Why do we travel?

I was reading about Descartes, this matematician and philosofer of the 15 century... when he had finished his university, he wanted to discover the world and had started many journeys, to paris to the netherlands and so... He wanted to see the world... and he arrive to discover himself.

By traveling, by discovering other cultures we get to discover ourselfs, being in a place when you are at your own force you, push you in to grow... you gain time to be just with you.

I think, that by traveling we can discover ourselfs. We can discove who we really are and where we go in this life... wich are our goals, our path... it can help us to reach our desteny.

there is an spanish singer Joan Manuel Serrat, that sings a poem of Antonio Machado that i remebered last night while I was at the sea... It says something like:

"Traveller there is no path, the path is made while we walk thru it. While walking we make the path, and when we look back, you can see the path that won´t be wlaked again. Traveller there is no path, but wakes in the sea"

now in spanish, for those that can!! "Caminante no hay camino/ se hace camino al andar/ al andar se hace camino/ y al volver la vista atrás/ se ve la senda que nunca se ha de volver a pisar/ caminante no hay camino/ sino estelas en la mar"
